About Us
The first settlement of population was established in the Wildlife Refuge La Marta, around the year 1895. A costa rican took possession of this property and installed one of the productive modules utilizing appropriate technology to take advantage of the line of the railroad that arrived to the Caribbean coast. In 1928 they finalized these activities and from this moment the farm did not continue being exploited.
In 1991, it initiated its regeneration when, receiving this property in donation, ULACIT decided to convert the Estate La Marta, in a Wildlife Refuge.
In 1992 the Government of Costa Rica example for other ecological developments declared it, and in July of 1993 him was offered the distinction of First Private Refuge of wildlife of the country.
